Aloha SCCA Hawaii,
Race #2 of our season is complete! On Super Bowl Sunday, we had 71 racers register for the event, a decent amount considering it was Super Bowl Sunday. By the way, were you happy or unhappy from the result of the Super Bowl, personally I wish the 49ers won. Anyways, let’s get on to the race review!
Race #2 had very good weather this time around, there was blue skies, no rain, and less wind. As my parents tell me, the weather really contributed to the way things went on and off the track. The weather must’ve helped my dad on track because he came in first place with a time of 36.809. Trailing Mike is Ashton Wells with a time of 37.339 pushing his Spifyah to the limit. Finally, taking home the bronze is Jennifer Parker with a time of 37.907, the Red Tesla coming home with two trophies.
I want to say congratulations and thanks to Rick Okazaki for designing Race #2’s track. As many people say that the track was not only fun but challenging, this track used the maximum space given and gave the drivers many different elements they had to consider. Even I got to experience the track in the passenger seat on fun runs with Ty Sato and my mom and I’ve got to say it was a lot of fun.
One of the very many surprises of the event was Garrett Chew doing extremely well with a run executed so smoothly his time came out as a 38.804 in a blue Datsun 240Z. I believe that the way he drove his car through the track without pushing it over the limit was the reason why he had such a good time, congratulations Garrett.
As always, I hope every single one of the drivers and pit crew had fun on Race #2. We’ll see each other again on the 25th of February, but until then let’s have a good Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day.
